What inspired me to become a lawyer
A wise person once told me, a long time ago, that I should find career that would allow me to be useful to the people around me. I think
that being an attorney is a profession where, like medicine, you are able to help people who are in crisis situations.
The feeling of being able to bring comfort to a person who is “on the edge”, the fact that this profession allows you to support those who are wronged ( and the abuses of the authorities those of fellow citizens are numerous), gives me a feeling o completion.
Of course, there is the feeling of winning a case, which can be a very pleasant sensation, but we must not let ourselves be overwhelmed by this sensation, since an excessive desire to win at any price can also ruin you, disappoint you and even lead to a tendency to speculate the law more than you should. The main and only goal of an attorney is too seek justice.
I had the opportunity to learn from one of the biggest criminal defense lawyers this city has seen, who is now retired but has become a rolemodel for me over time, and from whom I have learned to refuse cases in which I do not believe. I only take on those cases where I see a chance of success.
I believe in the values of advocacy, I believe in reading and studying, in the detriment of making a show in court, which unfortunately has not ceased to happen in some places. The show performed by some attorneys is preferred by some clients, in the detriment of simple and pragmatic solutions.
